These are but a few of the fields in which opportunities for new leaders and a new brand of leadership are now available. The world is undergoing a rapid change. This means that the media through which the changes in human habits are promoted, must be adapted to the changes. The media here described, are the ones which, more than any others, determine the trend of civilization.
Adapt to the Changes
I can remember learning about patterns in grade school. The lessons look similar to the following example: 1, 2, 3,1 - 1, 2, 3, 2 - 1, 2, 3, 3 - 1, 2, 3, 4 - 1, 2, 3, _ What number comes next? The lesson would teach us that the missing number is five.
I always found these type of lessons very interesting because in some ways it taught us how to “predict the future” by recognizing trends, and how adapt to future circumstances by understanding the past.
Understanding how to adapt is key to survival, and adapt by definition means…
...to change your behavior so that it is easier to live in a particular place or situation
...to change (something) so that it functions better or is better suited for a purpose
...to change (a movie, book, play, etc.) so that it can be presented in another form
Adapting is all about change, and change is something that a lot of people struggle with because the comfort zone can be so comfortable. After all, why would we want to change things when they’re going the way we want them to go?
The problem is when things STOP going the way that we want them to go. Then what? Sometimes it makes sense to be patient and ride things out, however, when we understand patterns we learn to understand just how patient we should be if things stop going the way we want them to.
By nature, we as humans are born “good”, however, as we grow up we adapt to our surroundings and circumstances; that is how we survive. The thing is we must continue to adapt to our surroundings as we grow older if we want to live the life that we’re passionate about living.
Change can be hard but it’s sometimes the single most important thing that we need to do in order to take life to the next level. Do you want to be in the same exact situation one year from now? I don’t, so I need to Block Time in order to think about areas that I may not be adapting well in and then focus my mind on getting better!
Food for thought….
What is the most recent thing that you’ve had to adapt to?
What patterns have your recognized in your business?
How would you rate yourself when it comes to adapting to negative circumstances?
