The One Hitter Quitter

The most intelligent man living cannot succeed in accumulating money—nor in any other undertaking—without plans which are practical and workable. Just keep this fact in mind, and remember when your plans fail, that temporary defeat is not permanent failure. It may only mean that your plans have not been sound. Build other plans. Start all over again.

The One Hitter Quitter

Finish this sentence; If at first you don’t succeed……

I’m pretty sure that most people can complete that sentence, but for those that can’t, it’s ….”try, try again.” Most of us have a few good “tries” within and there are the one hitter quitters; the ones that will fail at something once and will never try it again. Lastly you have the people who are reluctant to try anything.

Unfortunately it will take anywhere from a few dozen attempts to a few thousand in order to “halfway” perfect something. We all know this to be true, however, we still tend to complain and give up so quickly when we don’t get an understanding of something right away.

When I got into the real estate business, I knew NOTHING about it…. I didn’t even own a home. Of course I knew of people who had purchased homes, but I never talked to them about the buying / selling process. I had to learn everything from scratch. It took more than one year of FULL TIME work before I finally sold my first home.

I’ve since sold hundreds of homes, received a few trophies, worked with people from all of the world, and best of all…. I’ve taught what I’ve learned to other agents, brokers, family members, and friends so that they can somehow benefit from what I’ve gone through.

As long as we’re willing to Block Time in order to practice and never quit…. we can accomplish just about anything! Bruce Lee said: “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

Food for thought….

  • What have you practiced over 10,000 times?

  • What goals of the past have you given up on? Why?
