Missed Opportunities

From the book "Think & Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill - Posted 8/17/2015

The next flock of millionaires will grow out of the radio business, which is new and not overburdened with men of keen imagination. The money will be made by those who discover or create new and more meritorious radio programmes and have the imagination to recognize merit, and to give the radio listeners a chance to profit by it.

Missed Opportunities

The thing that amazes me so much about the book “Think and Grow Rich” is that although it was written in 1937, the concepts and lessons still apply today. The above excerpt is so very true; the radio business did make a flock of millionaires and it continues to do so today! I can only imagine how many people have read this book since (it was first published) and followed its lessons.

Have you ever missed an opportunity because you didn’t Block the Time to follow through or because the timing wasn’t right? I know that I’ve missed out on a lot of opportunities because of bad timing or poor follow through. Some of us will learn from our missed opportunities while others will become depressed and will always talk about that missed opportunity every time you see them.

One of the things that I dislike or hate the most is talking to someone that always talks about things of the past that can't be changed. These people may not understand that we’re supposed to grow from all of our past experiences whether they were good or bad.

Anytime that I miss an opportunity I simply try to do better to prepare for the next one. More importantly, I trust that there will be another opportunity better than the last one. So I’ll reflect on what went wrong in the moment in order to see what I should have done more of or less of. This way when the new opportunity presents itself, I’ll be ready! There will be no dilly dallying, hesitation, or procrastination!

How do you prepare for future opportunities? What ritual do you have? Reflecting and reading works best for me; I also like to talk to happy people that are good listeners; I avoid people that wallow in the past because talking to those types of folks never helps! Each day a new opportunity will come our way, so we must Block Time to prepare for the opportunity so that when it does come we’re ready!
