What is it that you REALLY want?

From the book (Think and Grow Rich) by Napoleon Hill (Page 101)

God seems to throw Himself on the side of the man who knows exactly what he wants, if he is determined to get JUST THAT!

What is it that you REALLY want?

It is so important to KNOW exactly what we want in life. Most of us THINK we know what we want, but we really don’t. Most of us are trying to obtain the things that others told us we should have. The vast majority of us grow up thinking that we MUST go to college, buy a house with a picket fence, and retire after 30 years of working at the same job in order to achieve the American Dream.

Some of us will actually feel bad about ourselves if we didn’t go to college or buy a house. Some of us will go so far to keep our true goals buried deep inside because we fear that our true ambitions will be not well received by others. I think that we’ve all reached the point at some time or another where we found ourselves trying to live out someone else's dream.

I love the quote by Les Brown: “Most people fail in life not because they aim too high and miss, but because they aim too low and hit.” I love it because it’s true! Most of us live life trying to “play it safe” because we fear embarrassment or because we don’t want to disappoint others. To those people I say: Life is for the Living; If you want to truly LIVE life to the fullest, you must be willing to learn what true happiness is and then go after it with everything that you have!

Not knowing exactly what what we want in life leads to a disease called “Indecisiveness”. Living with Indecisiveness causes us to miss opportunities thus holding us back from all of the wonderful things that life has to offer; it causes us to grow old, unsuccessful, and unhappy at a rapid rate. It will keep us up at night worrying and second guessing ourselves. It will lead us to take bad advice from people that we think mean us well.

There are more symptoms to the disease, but the ones listed should be scary enough for us to practice prevention and/or seek out the cure. And yes, there is a natural cure for Indecisiveness….

  • First, you must BELIEVE that you are great and can accomplish just about anything that you set your mind to.

  • Second, you must get to know yourself. You can do this by asking yourself: “What makes me happy?”

  • Third, you must decide that you MUST and WILL be happy.

  • Fourth, you must PLAN to be happy.

  • Fifth, you must be consistent, patient, and have faith in your decisions

  • Sixth, most importantly, you CAN NOT keep worrying about what other people think; you CAN NOT live your life constantly trying to please others.

By Blocking Time to following these steps, we’ll begin to know EXACTLY what we want in life thus ridding ourselves of a disease that prevents millions of people not living life to the fullest!
