Imagine What You Would Do if You Could Do All That You Can

I was on a bike ride yesterday thinking about all of the things that we have going on. I was thinking about the things that are going well and the things that aren’t going so well. When thinking of all the things that are happening right now however, I had to ask myself; what am I most passionate about? The answer is “The Team”.

It may sound cliche for me to admit that I’m most passionate about the team, but it’s the truth. The fact is that without a team, one can only go so far in life. For instance, do you think that Lebron James could beat an average ranked Middle School basketball team in a full court game of 1 on 5? I don’t think so, but I know that if you turn it into a 2 on 5 game, the chances of Lebron’s team winning goes up astronomically, as long as the 2nd person on his team was average.

What’s average when it comes to real estate? Do you know how many homes the average Realtor sells per year? Do you know how many homes the average investor purchases each year? Without knowing these statistics, how can one know where they stand as a real estate professional, and most importantly as a team member. Without a target, what are we shooting for?

The answer to these questions are out there for us to find if we take the time to look; and why shouldn’t we take that time? We complain about the politicians, we complain about the service that we get at various stores, we complain about this or that…but how often are we honest with ourselves about our own performance?

How often do we complain about our progress not being fast enough? How often do we complain about not being #1 in our field? How often do we complain about not making better plans? How often do we complain about continuously trying to do so much on our own? How often do we complain about not delegating more? How often do we complain about complaining so much? It goes on and on and on….

The most successful people in life are their own biggest critics. They understand what the competition is doing and they are realistic with where they stand, and most importantly they either know what they have to do become above average, or they will not stop searching for the answers until they have found them. I’m not advocating that anyone beat themselves up, but honest self-reflection is an important step in continued growth.

My goal is to work with 10 real estate professionals and assist them to consistently close 4 times more than the average Realtor closes each year. I’ve been on that mission for some time now and it gets better each day.

There are always going to be sacrifices that we make in order to reach our goals. There will be tough decisions that must be made, but we have to make them. We’ll make some good friends on our journey, and we may even make some adversaries as well.

You can’t let the fear of success get in your way, or let the challenges that we face deter you from your goals and dreams. Sometimes we don’t see how we’re getting in our own way until it’s pointed out, just like we may not see how truly talented we are until it’s shown to us. But remember, there will be no one pointing out anything if you’re on a team all by yourself, ya dig?
