We all go through seasons in which things don’t seem to go our way regardless of how smart we work; these seasons can last for days or even years. One thing is for sure that if we continue to work smart & hard towards a worthy goal then eventually we will begin to see the fruits of our labor.
The problem is that sometimes we don’t realize that seeing the fruits of our labor and harvesting the fruits are two different things. Take the time to think about that for a moment. I’m sure that we’ve all been in a situation where someone was trying to tell us that we should make a move on an opportunity that we knew was an opportunity...but for some reason we weren't moving.
I acquired a job that I loved back in the day because a guy didn’t make a move on an opportunity. I was working at the airport in the stockroom; I hated the job in the stockroom by the way. One day one of my co-workers came in telling me about a job that the company was creating to help keep the stores clean.
I told the guy that he needed to jump on the opportunity a.s.a.p. Because it was his way out of the stock room, but he didn’t listen. He came in every day that week talking about this position, and I had to listen to him every day talking about this position.
I finally told him that he needs to talk to management about this position or I will….and I did. I got the job, and guy couldn’t even be upset with me for taking it because he didn’t make a move, and because he knew that I kept telling him to jump on it.
I too have missed out on opportunities because I didn’t adapt quickly enough. I write this because we have a lot of great opportunities that are not being moved on quickly enough individually and as a team. In my opinion it’s not the smartest, richest, best looking person that’s going to endure the various seasons...the people that have the ability to quickly adapt are the ones that will successfully make it through the various seasons.
What season are you in? Are you coming out of a tough season going into a good one? Or are you going into a season of struggle? I hope you know because if you don’t, how will you be able to adapt to the upcoming season?
