Got Change?

It’s silly how we sometimes think we can change our lives dramatically without changing anything about ourselves. We’ve all been guilty of this at some point in time. One goal outside of real estate that I set is to drink a gallon of water by 9am each day.

At the time that I set the goal I wasn’t even drinking two glasses of water by that time; so to jump from one glass to one gallon was a very silly thought, and needless to say it didn’t work out. This goal was one that I really wanted to accomplish, so I had to figure out how I could make it happen.

I eventually broke the goal down into smaller pieces; breaking the goal down was just one of the things that I had to change. Realizing that reaching the original goal in such short time was unrealistic and pushing the deadline back to 1pm was something that I also had to change.

I’m currently halfway to reaching my gallon goal each day. If I hadn’t made any changes in my habits I’d still be in the same place...less than a glass a day.

One of the reasons that I set my gallon goal was because drinking water gives you energy and helps you think better. And since I work in a field that requires a good amount of thought and energy, I figured it made sense to make sure I was properly hydrated. Then I started adding more and more reasons why I need to drink a gallon of water daily; as my mindset changed, the goal became easier to accomplish. This is the case with most goals.

Some of us are naturally talented in certain areas, so we can reach our goals without trying hard. While others, have to work harder at reaching even the simplest goals. We all have areas in which we adopted bad habits that make getting where we want to go harder, but if we keep moving forward while understanding that for things to change we must change ourselves, we'll reach our goals!

Until next time, Make it a great day!

Food For Thought: Drinking lots of water is so important, here are some of the benefits of drinking more water…

  1. Water makes us slimmer. Water contains no fat, no carbs and no calories. If you drink water prior to eating, it will reduce your feeling of hunger and, as a result, your food intake. Water is also one of the most effective natural appetite suppressants.

  2. It cleanses our kidneys and liver. Drinking water helps us flush out toxins and waste products from our body in the form of urine and sweat. By doing this, water is our best ally against unwanted urinary tract infections.

  3. H2O cures constipation. Water is essential for proper digestion, as it is a major provider of fluids to the gastrointestinal tract. Together with fiber water serves as the best prevention against constipation.

  4. It is the cheapest fuel for our muscles. Our muscles work harder and longer when properly hydrated. Water energizes them and makes them stronger.

  5. Staying hydrated significantly reduces the risk of cancer. Water has been found to reduce the risk of certain types of cancer, especially bladder and colon cancer. Certain studies suggest that drinking right amounts of water may also decrease the incidence of breast cancer.

  6. Water makes us brighter and more productive. It is a natural brain booster, as it keeps us alert, improves our concentration, memory and attention span.

  7. Drinking water boosts our immune system. You are more likely to fight off cold, allergies and infections when drinking plenty of water. It flushes out toxic material and clears the airways.

  8. Proper hydration makes headaches go away. Instead of reaching for the pills, drink plenty of water. Your headache might simply be a matter of being dehydrated.

  9. Feeling tired? Drink a glass of water. Every second person complaining of fatigue actually suffers from dehydration. Water intake boosts our energy and helps us exercise better.

  10. Water is the body’s transportation system. It helps dissolve and carry nutrients, minerals and oxygen to every part and organ of our body. Every cell in our body would shrivel and die without water.
