The big takeaway that I received from Chapter 12 is to always ask GREAT questions. Regardless of who you are and what you’ve accomplished thus far in life, we can always improve the quality of our questions. The better the question, the better the answer; and with good answers we can make good decisions.

In the real estate business, new agents are taught to go to their sphere of influence and ask a question: Are you looking to buy or sell a home? This is a good and direct question, but if the answer is no...then what?

The next question that the agent is taught to ask is: Do you know of anyone who is looking to buy or sell a home? This is a good question but a great question would be more specific: Who do you know at your ____ that is looking to buy or sell?

You can fill in the blank with job, school, church, etc. That would be a GREAT question because it’s specific and will help the person focus on who they may know, thus resulting in a better answer for you. Make sense?

I love it when I’m asked GREAT questions that challenge me to think or do some research. Especially when the question makes me dig up some research that I may have already done, which can be fun. In general, GREAT questions make us better, even if we don’t get the answer right away.

One thing to keep in mind about asking GREAT questions is that we should be prepared to take action once we get our answer. Why take the time to ask the GREAT question if we are not going to do anything with the answer? That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, but to each his own!

Until next time, make it a great day!!
