Unfortunately certain things must come to an end, and in this case we’ve reached the end of the book. I’ve gotten a lot of good information from various books over the years, and I will definitely say that The One Thing is among the top 10 for most useful content.

The book closes with a great summary of how to apply The One Thing concept to all areas of life, and what it boils down to is focus. Our problems tend to come from us doing too many things at once. Take grocery shopping for example.

If we go grocery shopping without a meal plan for the week, we’re going to wind up with a shopping cart full of random stuff that may not get used anytime soon. Whereas if we meal plan for the week and take the list to the store with us, then our carts will be full of things that we need and that will get used. This saves time, money, and energy.

So the focusing question regarding shopping would be: What’s the one thing that I can do before going shopping that would make everything else easier or unnecessary? The answer would be make a list. Then you apply the question to the list, and the answer then would be meal planning. And from there you would apply the question to the meal planning.

The answer to the focusing question for meal planning would leave you with the type of meals you want to have for the week. You may want to cook simple quick dishes, or you may want to take on more challenging dishes….or you may want to mix them up.

The One Thing is all about the focus: What’s The One Thing that I can do that makes everything else easier or unnecessary? And like with any information, in order for it to work we MUST apply it. If we REALLY want to see results, then we must make it a HABIT.

It is said that in order to create a habit, we must take continuous action for at least 2 months.. So if we want to be more focused we have to practice on being more focused and make it a habit. If we want to become more productive, then we must practice on being more productive and make it a habit, and so on….

And like the previous chapter mentioned, we must be aware of “The Four Thieves of Productivity” if we really want to make some big changes in our lives. Making new good habits can be tough, especially when there are “thieves” among us!

Hopefully something that you’ve read in this series will help become more inspired, more focused, and more committed to your One Thing. I know it has helped me! Now I just need to decide what book I’ll work on next, hmmmmm…..

Until next time, MAKE it a great day and remember that I don’t mind discussing any of the concepts found in the blog or not in the blog as long as it’s productive :)
