Today Is A Gift...Enjoy Your Present

When you run your own business, there’s so much to get done in a day. There are so many things to think about, plan for, prepare for, and if we’re not careful we’ll get caught up spending all of our time in the business and nowhere else. I realized this problem shortly after I became a real estate agent.

I was being pulled left to right and back again, and without the guidance of a much needed mentor, I ended up spending a lot of time behind the computer, on showings, listing appointments, closings, and everywhere else my business took me.

To make things more challenging, I did all of this as a single parent with very little family close by to help. I was constantly thinking about what I had to get done and how much time I had to do it. This chaotic pattern is one of the many reasons I decided to build a team, and not just any team. I wanted to have a team of family and friends working in the business.

I figured that if the real estate business requires so much time and energy, I may as well have a team of family and friends around me so that we can grow closer and make money together. Although it hasn’t been the smoothest ride, today I can say that I have a lot of great and not so great stories that involve spending time trying to build businesses with family and friends, and things keep getting better.

I heard a proverb some time ago that says: “Choose a job that you love, and you will never work a day in your life” ~ Confucius. I believe this to be very true. Although I currently spend more time working than I’d like, it’s not that bad because I love what I do and I love who I’m doing it with, and at the end of every day I feel accomplished.

I wish this for anyone and everyone. It’s easier to be “present in the moment” when you are doing things that you love to do with people that you genuinely care about. As Eric Thomas puts it, “be where you're celebrated and not just tolerated.” It’s hard to be “present” in any moment if you’re work is not appreciated.

It’s easy for someone to say: “Be present in the moment”, but if you don’t realize what exactly is pulling you away from the moment, then you’ll never be present. Team Woods wants to shine and we want to see you shine right along with us. We hope that our positive vibes will help brighten your day and make it that much easier to be present in the moment, can you dig it?

Let’s make today a great day and and Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff.
