Black History Month: Still Loading….

The year was 1990. I was at the crib watching Video Soul when these four women started harmonizing an old Jackson Five tune.

At the time, I had a serious surround sound system in my basement that I built; it consisted of about 6 woofers ranging from 8’s to 12’s, and at least 10 mid ranges and tweeters. My point is that I had a “boomin system” that banged.

So I was mesmerized when I heard the intro because it sounded so crisp coming through the speakers…they were sounding so good.

I was also mesmerized because of those tight black dresses that they were wearing; they were looking quite scrumptious to say the very least.

Then when the baseline kicked in… and it had that James Brown sample (The Big Payback)...I was all in.

To this day, En Vogue is still my favorite Female Group, hands down. No question. And fyi, Dawn is my favorite En Vogue member. It’s the eyes for me.
