One of the best leg workouts is running up a hill or a few flights of stairs. I personally don't like using exercise machines that work your leg muscles. I don't know what it is about leg workouts, but they're kind of...well, boring to me. It's been a long time since I've had a gym membership, but back when I did, I would only use the leg machines occasionally. I don't like doing squats with the barbell or lunges either, so what is a person like me to do?
There are several options! My favorite is running up and down steep hills. The hills at Oak Hill Cemetery are STEEP!
I don't know the exact numbers but I think the steepest hill there has to be at least a 45-50 degree angle. When I want to make climbing the hill more intense, I'll carry dumbbells up and down the hill with him.
After going up and down hills at Oak Hill Cemetery a few times, you're going to feel it! Other leg exercises that I like are climbing stairs, biking, and jogging. Because Youngstown is a "valley", there's no shortage of outdoor stair cases to run up and down. And with all hills in Youngstown, biking and jogging make GREAT exercises for the legs.
See you at the top of the hill!
