“He understood the assignment, but...

“He understood the assignment, but was unaware that there was more than one assignment that needed to be completed.” ~Unknown

For over 50 years, the Black community has failed to provide its youth with year round enrichment programs that cater to their mental health and overall happiness.

Therefore we can’t blame the younger generation for not having the work ethic that we think we have, nor can we blame them for spending so much time on their cell phones and gaming systems.

What options have we given them?

I hear people complain about kids not going outside to play like we used to back in the day, but have you been outside lately?

If we won’t go outside and interact with our neighbors, what makes us think that our kids will?

They do what they see being done, and they don’t do what they don’t see.

If we want the youth to be more outgoing, then we must show them how to be more outgoing.

If we want them to be excited about learning new things, then we must show them how excited we get when it's time to learn new things.

If we want them to master a subject, concept, or way of life after 6 weeks of exposure to it, then we must show them how to master a subject, concept, or way of life after 6 weeks of exposure to it.

The end.

This has been a #TeamWoods moment in Black History.
