If you knew better you’d do better…

“If you knew better you’d do better” is a lie in most cases. We all know of a lot of logical and wise things that we don’t practice.

Simple, logical, and wise things like the benefits of using coupons for example; most of us know about the benefits of using coupons, yet many of us don't use them.

I happen to be “The President of the Not Using A Coupon Club”, and it makes no sense. Why am I spending more at the grocery store when I could be saving money? I know better, but…

Same thing goes for more complex things, like providing better educational resources in the Black Community. Everyone knows that in most cases, schools in the Black Community suck, yet very little is done to change this.

Voting for candidates who are working diligently towards putting better educational resources in the Black Community would help solve the problem, but we the people that are impacted the most won’t or don’t vote. Don’t they know better?

To solve the non voting issue, it would make sense for the politically savvy folks to start educating non-voters early on, but we don’t. The majority of us will wait until the last minute to start our political push. Don’t we know that’s stupid?

I have one more “Know Better Do Better” example; hold elected officials accountable. Don’t we know we have the right, the obligation…to hold elected officials accountable once they’re elected?

Holding the winning candidate accountable isn’t common knowledge for all I must say, especially in the Black Community. We have a 40+ year history of voting for folks and then sitting back and doing little to nothing to hold the elected official accountable for a GOT-DARN thang….all while the younger generation is watching.

So yeah, I think if you knew better, you’d do better is a lie in most cases.

The End.

#This has been a #TeamWoods moment in Black History.
