Save Money with Homemade Pizza

Let's face it, pizza is good. It's so good that according to an article in The Washington Post, Americans consume 3 Billion Pizzas a year. That's a LOT of pizza! That's also a LOT of money!

One way that we can save money on pizza is by not eating it, but who would want to deprive themselves of some good ole pizza? So the next best way to cut down on our pizza expense is to make it ourselves.

I like to use either naan bread, bagels, or English muffins for the crust; for $5 you can buy enough of these breads to make several pizzas. And for the sauce there are sooo many options. I like to either chopped up my tomatoes in the food processor, or I'll buy canned diced tomatoes. This another expense that will cost less than $5.

Lastly is the cheese; lately I've been buying parmesan cheese for just about everything because it's a healthier cheese option, however, mozzarella cheese is the popular option for pizza. This is another expense that will cost you less than $5.

So there you have it, the 3 basic ingredients for a quick and easy homemade pizza. Now it's up to you to add some additional flavor to it if you want. The key is to not go overboard too "often" with all of the extra toppings, the goal is to keep the cost down while at the same time cutting back on all of the extra sodium that store bought pizzas have.
