Who has time to read?

Finding the time to read will never happen because we don't find time to read, we make it. Therefore if we're not making time to read, we'll find ourselves not having the time to read.

I recently borrowed 4 books from the library and didn't finish na'an one of 'em. I did read a few pages of each, but my plan was to read them all cover to cover within 3 weeks.

Reading four books in 3 weeks shouldn't of been an issue, I was on a roll in the fall reading four a book a week. I was able to do so because I simply made the time.

This time around my intentions were good...I wanted to read all of the books that I borrowed, but my time blocking to read was not so good; and to add insult to injury, when I returned the books, I purchased 8 more books and 5 magazines (all under 10 bucks...they had a nice sale)!

So here I am with more books and "no time" to read.

The notion of "not having time to read" bothered me because this isn't the first time that I bought & borrowed books from the library that I haven't read. I've been allowing this to happen more and more, so I decided that I need to do something about this.

So...since I claim that not having time is an issue, I figure that by reading faster I'll be able to read more. Yeah, I know that's common sense, but I'm talking about reading much faster...like a book a day faster. I've heard about speed reading a long time ago, and I just recently learned that Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are both speed readers.

Speed reading is being able to read 1500+ words a minute, whereas the average reader reads about 250 words per minute. Big difference right? I'm sure that I'd finish a lot more books at 1500 words per minute!

That said, today marks the day that I begin learning how to spread read! I got a lot of good information from the videos below, hopefully you will too.

Happy reading!!
